The End of Summer

Can you believe summer is almost done?  For many of us, the beginning of the school year brings summer to a close.  With the end of summer also brings less out door activities  and sometimes less body movement.  This can cause our Lymphatic system to become sluggish.  August's special is all about the Lymphatic System!

The lymphatic system is referred to as our second circulatory system. It consists of a network of vessels carrying lymph (water, proteins, and electrolytes) from the tissue fluids to the bloodstream. At intervals along the length of these lymphatic vessels are groups of nodes (over 500). The node function is to filter lymph through the action of scavenging white blood cells that capture and destroy pathogens, viruses, dead cells, cancer cells, etc.  The lymphatic system is actually a crucial player in your body's ability to ward off disease and heal from injury. The body has twice as much lymph fluid as blood. It continuously bathes each cell and drains away the debris and is powered only by our breathing and movement. If the lymph system gets blocked or overrun (due to illness, surgery, toxic overload or lack of activity), lymph fluid backs up. The lymphatic system is most important in the elimination of toxins. Nodes and vessels can become sluggish and clogged with bacteria and protein deposits. Consequently, toxic waste matter cannot effectively be released nor can the immune system function optimally. By cleansing and unblocking your lymphatic system, your general health improves, your immune system is strengthened and enhanced, and your overall energy is increased.
